Planning your wedding can be time-consuming, stressful, and overwhelming. You have so much to do, and sometimes you’re just not sure what to focus on next. Or…if you’re the groom, like I was, you kind of feel helpless, like everyone else is planning stuff, but where is my say?
Brides and grooms, take a load off of your wedding music planning. If you’re not a musical person and you’re struggling to fill out your ceremony’s playlist, I’ve just come out with some great new ideas for you.
Introducing the Ultimate Ceremony Playlist! On this list are some of the most popular songs STILL being used in weddings today! This list includes songs from multiple decades and genres so that there is something for everyone. Each playlist is broken down by which songs are most played in which element, to guide you every step of the way through your timeline.
Our Pop Playlist is our most popular (go figure!), with songs such as Make You Feel My Love by Adele, A Thousand Years by Christina Perri, and Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
If Country is more your style, you’re in luck! The Country genre offers so many good love songs, including Speechless by Dan + Shay, God Gave Me You by Blake Shelton, and In Case You Didn’t Know by Brett Young.
If you want something a bit less typical, Rock has some great songs for you to walk down the aisle to. Everlong by Foo Fighters, Tangled Up In You by Staind, and Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol are a few great options included in our Playlist.
And finally, for some options that are more God-honoring, our Christian Playlist is just for you! We’ve got contemporary hits such as When I Say I Do by Matthew West and I Choose You by Ryann Darling; contemporary worship such as Cornerstone by Hillsong Worship and Yes I Will by Vertical Worship; and finally some traditional hymns like the perennially popular Amazing Grace.
Of course, these playlists are meant to be just a guide. Feel free to tell your own story! That’s the great thing about you as a couple is that you can’t be put in a box. You have that one song that speaks to you and your fiancée and it tells your story perfectly. Let us know in the comments!
We’ll be making changes to our Ultimate Ceremony Playlists to keep up with the latest trends, so don’t worry if some of the songs sound old! Honestly, some of these older songs are still popular or are coming back around.
And if you want to elevate your experience by hearing these songs performed live, try hearing what Jake’s FretWorks does with electric guitar! These could be the sounds played at your wedding!
So…a little backstory…
When I first turned Jake’s FretWorks on full-throttle to playing live music for unforgettable weddings, I needed a list of songs to start learning. I spent hours researching on Google, Wedding Wire, The Knot, and other sources to find THE BEST songs to play at weddings. The problem is that most of those sources don’t break down which are best for ceremonies or receptions. Apparently, “wedding” means “reception” in those circles. Yes, the party afterwards is important. But what about the ceremony, where all the memories are made?
Well, we took it a step further, giving you what songs work best at the most popular timeline points of a wedding: a 30-minute Prelude, Processional (entrance) of the Mothers and of the Bridal Party, Processional of the Bride, Unity Moment, Recessional (exit), and a 3-song Postlude.
By the way, we provide music for ALL of these steps for one very affordable price.
Fret not, for these Playlists are only a sampling of what your wedding could sound like. If you don’t see your songs, we welcome requests! As a singing guitarist of 24 years with a talent to learn by ear, I (Jake) can easily learn any song and play it in whatever configuration you want! We’ve got them as Instrumentals for when your guests are arriving, or I will sing them for when you want something more intimate. We usually use backing tracks for a fuller music experience, but we’ll also strip it down for an emotional acoustic moment.
Whether you are hiring a live musician or just defaulting to a DJ, we hope the Ultimate Ceremony Playlists help you on your planning journey. We know how tough planning these things can be. And hey grooms, take something off of your bride’s plate! We made your job easier by making ALL 4 of these Playlists available to YOU, completely FREE!
